(As an aside, Bill Wurtz's YouTube "History of Japan" is basically the brunt of my knowledge here, I guess. In that video, the moment of silence right before the surrender flag is raised is such an eerie blend of being a moment that really makes me stop and ponder terrible things in the world but also somehow peak calculated comedic timing. It's basically my style of humor and existing in general so if this kind of thing offends you please take precautions!!)
